About Harvard Free Online CS50 Course
This is CS50x, a course at Harvard University designed to introduce students, both majors, and non-majors, to the intellectual pursuits of computer science and the art of programming.
David J. Malan’s introductory course CS50x teaches students how to think algorithmically and solve problems effectively. The subjects covered in this course include resource management, security, software engineering, and web development.
In addition to CSS and HTML, languages include C, Python, SQL, and JavaScript. Problem sets based on biology, cryptography, banking, forensics, and gaming are applicable in the real world. The largest course at Harvard is CS50, the on-campus equivalent of CS50x.
Students can receive a certificate if they complete a final project and receive satisfactory grades on all nine problem sets (or programming assignments). Because CS50x is a self-paced course, you can take it whenever it suits you.

CS5O Computer Course Free Certificate
CS50 has kept a clear position in favor of openness ever since its debut. The full course—along with the completion certificate—remains free in 2022.
However, obtaining a complimentary certificate of completion for CS50 can be a little unclear. In fact, there are three platforms available for the course:
- EdX: The platform that most people are likely to be familiar with is EdX. CS50 does not come with a free certificate on edX. Instead, it provides a $150 paid verified certificate.
- Harvard OCW: The open online course platform at Harvard. The above-mentioned free certificate of completion is part of the Harvard OCW course CS50. It should be noted that the assignments and the course are identical to those on edX. The free certificate doesn’t require ID verification, which is the only distinction.
- Harvard Extension School: The department of continuing education at Harvard. CS50 on Harvard Extension does not also come with a free certificate. Instead, students can enroll in the course for credit and pay $1500–3000 to get a certified transcript.
